The first is probably one of the most important suggestions on the list… family volunteers! A table and checklist is provided at the end of this post. Make your baby registry with amazon.

Mommy-to-be Must-Haves

1. Family Volunteers

It is so important to have family available to help for the first few weeks. The extra help is so helpful. Family volunteers are there to cook, do laundry, clean, and give mommy breaks. I had help for every child. You have so much appreciation for family volunteers during this time. This is one of the most important mommy-to-be must haves!

2. Baby Tracker-Newborn Log App

I can’t say enough how important a baby tracker comes in handy. In those first few sleepless days, I found myself forgetting things. I knew I could feel comfortable knowing that the baby tracker had all the information I needed. I tracked baby’s sleep, baby’s feedings and baby’s diaper changing. You can also track milestones. For my next child I will hands down use this app again. I have used it for all four of my children so far! You can download the app here! If you have trouble with this link use a desktop to access the app or search the title in the app store.

A 1 year subscription to HGTV magazine for only $8.00.

3. Baby Book

I highly recommend a baby book, were you can also track baby’s firsts and milestones. In the beginning few months you and baby are trying to get a hang of things. A baby book will allow you to keep track of those special moments you don’t want to miss! You can purchase this babybook by clicking the photo below.

4. Onesies

I recommend a lot of onesies. You can go through a ton of them a day. Babies spit up and pee out of their diaper a lot. I love to buy bulk packs of onesies. You can purchase these white onesies at amazon.

5. Extra Mitts

Babies don’t have control of their hands. My babies scratched their faces and poked their eyes. To prevent this I used mitts to protect their little faces. This mittss below I personally used and loved them. The elastic band on these mitts helped them stay on their hands better. I recommend having a lot of these! I went through them like diapers! You can purchase these mitts at amazon.

6. Sensitive Skin Wipes

All of my four kids had sensitive skin. I was given many types of wipes but only one kind seemed to keep their skin clear. Here are the wipes I used below. I swear by theses. I never had any issues using these wipes.  You will go through a lot of wipes, so buy them in bulk to save money. You can purchase sensitive skin wipes at amazon.

7. Diapers

I tried all different brands of diapers. Pampers Swaddlers were my favorite. They did not cause any rashes on my children. My favorite feature of these diapers was the blue line indicator. If baby peed the line turned from yellow to blue. I loved this! You can purchase Swaddlers diapers at amazon.

8. Pampers Rewards App

I used the pampers rewards app for diapers and wipes I bought. There is a code inside the box on the packaged diapers. There is also a code on the back of each wipes pack. I used these codes to get magazine subscriptions and toys for the kids! You can download this app at the apple store. If you have trouble with this link open it on a desktop computer.

A year subscription to Eating Well for only $5.00.

9. Wipes Warmer

I used a wipes warmer for all of my four kids. Imagine taking a cold shower. It is not enjoyable. So, cold wipes wouldn’t be enjoyable for your little one either. That’s were a diaper warmer comes in. This was one of those great shower gifts. I had one for each child. I used this wipes warmer from amazon.

10. Diaper Genie

You will be changing a lot of diapers. A diaper genie is a must. The diaper genie prevents the smell of the diapers from taking over your house. I used a diaper genie for my first two kids. The second two I used a trash can but wished I had a diaper genie. I could still smell the diapers without the diaper genie. The diaper genie is so easy to use! I recommend this one at amazon.

11. Extra Diaper Genie Refills

You will need diaper genie refill bags. These are a must. In the beginning, I went through 15-20 diapers per day. I like to buy everything in bulk. You can buy these in bulk at amazon.

12. Diaper Rash Cream

I used this religiously with every child. To prevent a rash, I applied a small amount of cream every diaper change. Most of the time this layer of cream prevented them from getting a rash. It is so easy for a baby to get a rash. If pee or poop sits on their skin for too long, it will cause a rash. I recommend to purchase the Swaddlers Diapers too. This is so you can prevent them from staying in a soiled diaper for too long. As soon as you see a blue line, change your baby. You can buy the diaper cream I used at amazon.

13. Diaper Bag with Changing Pad

I used a diaper bag every where I went. When you are away from home with baby you can put the necessary needs in this bag. I spent good money on a bag so it would last! If you’re having twins or more get a bigger bag. The more kids you have the bigger your bag will get. You can get a diaper bag at amazon.

14. Car Seat and Stroller Combo

You have to have a car seat to leave the hospital with baby. Don’t forget that when you go to the hospital. I used a stroller and car seat combo. My infant car seat was used for all four kids. You need to be aware though that car seats have expiration dates. If using for additional children, look on the bottom for your car seat expiration date.

Also, think about going with a neutral color if you’re going to have multiple kids. The stroller is also a must. When away from home with baby, it is nice to have somewhere to put baby. Stroller’s are also nice to go for a walk in your neighborhood with baby. You can get a car seat and stroller combo at amazon.

15. Car Seat Neck Pillow

When in the carseat baby’s head always seems to get in the worst position. To solve this issue I used a car seat neck pillow that helped baby with head position. You can get a neck pillow like this at amazon.

16. Mirror

When you’re driving in the car and baby is in the back seat alone, you worry. To solve this I used a car mirror that allowed me to see all my kids in the rear view mirror. I loved this. It kept me worry-free when I could see that everything was ok. You can get a mirror at amazon.

17. Car Seat Cover

When you are out and about baby may fall asleep. A cover is nice to allow baby to sleep peacefully. This is especially true if you are in a grocery store. Babies attract people and the cover will prevent someone from waking baby up, while you shop with a happy baby. You can get this carseat cover at amazon.

18. Cat Seat Toy

If baby is awake in the store you can put a toy on the car seat to distract baby. This is when baby is a bit older. Infants sleep all the time. It is easier to go to the store with an infant than an older baby. You can get a car seat toy at amazon.

19. Baby Carrier

If you have a lot of groceries to get or prefer baby close, get a baby carrier. I used this a lot when my babies were small. The bigger they get the harder it is to comfortably hold them. You can purchase this baby carrier at amazon.

20. Shopping Cart Cover

If baby is just too big for a carrier or you prefer to put him or her in the baby holder you can get a shopping cart cover. I used this when my kids were able to sit up on their own. You can get a shopping cart cover at amazon.

21. Window Cover

In the car the sun may get into babies eyes. To solve this issue, I used a window cover. This was such an easy product to use. You can purchase a car window cover at amazon.

22. Baby Monitor with Cameras

When baby comes home you are nervous. For my first child I had a monitor without a camera. I constantly would go into my babies room to see if he was ok. For my second child, I was given a monitor with a camera and I didn’t realize what I was missing. I loved being able to see baby in my bed on the camera. They don’t sell the one I had anymore, but I found a better one. I had to move my monitor during the day while baby was napping. With this monitor below you have two cameras. I recommend this baby monitor at amazon.

23. Nasal Suction

I used a nasal suction for every baby. Babies don’t know how to blow their nose. This helps suction any mucus in the nasal cavity causing baby discomfort. You can purchase a nasal suction at amazon.

24. Baby Nail Clippers

Baby’s nails grow so fast. I used baby nail clippers to keep my babies nails at a good length. This is especially true if you’re not using mitts. This will prevent baby from scratching their face. You can purchase a pair of infant nail clippers at amazon.

25. Baby Bath Tub

I went through four baby bath tubs. When baby is small this makes it very easy to bath baby. Here are two baby bath tubes I recommend. The first tub I was given for my third child and I loved it. It is a great way to bath baby and not be to hard on your back. Once my third child got too big for this tub, I switched to the second style. The secon style tub I previously used with my first two children. You could definitely use the second tub alone but I preferred two styles.

26. Bath Toys

When my babies were small I used small bath toys. When they got bigger I used educational bath toys. You can get many different kinds of bath toys at amazon.

27. Boppy Pillow

I can’t stress how important a boppy pillow is if you’re going to nurse. This pillow will save your back from hurting while you nurse. I used a boppy pillow with all four of my children. My third child had a lot of medical problems so I just used it to prop her. That’s a topic for another blog about my disabled daughter. I absolutely swear by this pillow. If you are breast feeding you definitely need this pillow. You can purchase a bobby pillow at amazon.

28. Extra Boppy Covers

When you nurse some milk may leak through the burp rag on the boppy pillow. In addition, babies spit up all the time. It is important to have multiple covers for your boppy pillow. I had like five. You can purchase many different covers at amazon.

29. Burp Rags

I used burp rags for every child. They are actually cloth diapers but they work great as burp rags. A family friend recommended them and they were the only ones I used. I used these because they were so thick. The thick material would absorb the breast milk that leaked when my babies ate. You can purchase the same burp rags I used at amazon.

30. Cotton bibs

I used cotton bibs to keep babies clothes and skin dry. I would change out bibs constantly to keep baby comfortable. You can purchase cotton bibs at amazon.

31. Breast Pads

I used these daily when breast feeding. It was either change my pads once a day or change shirts multiple times a day. I have used other kinds and they did not stay in place well. Also, I have used the reusable ones but they also did not stay in place. The disposable ones absorbed and stayed in place the best! Here are the best pads I swear by! I used these for all four kids. You can purchase these breast pads at amazon.

32. Nursing Bras

If you are going to nurse you should have nursing bras. It is much easier to access babies food with a nursing bra. Also, I recommend having several bras. I had like seven. You can purchase nursing bras at amazon.

Try Prime Wardrobe

33. Lanolin

I highly recommend some lanolin. In the beginning of nursing you are very sore and may have cracked nipples. The lanolin helps prevent cracked skin. I religiously put the lanolin on after every feeding. Best of all it is totally safe for baby. You can purchase the lanolin I used at amazon.

34. Nursing Cover

If I left the house, I always had my nursing cover. This allowed me to still be apart of family functions and feed baby. I loved my cover and used it for three of my kids. This is only because my third child was not fed by the breast. Here is a nursing cover I recommend! You can purchase this nursing cover at amazon.

35. Breast Pump

I used a breast pump with all my children. The pump was used the most for my third child. I have also used the hand held pump, I got from the hospital, but it was not strong enough. My pump was a shower gift. It came with a bag and accessories. Check with your insurance to see if they will cover the cost of a pump. My sister got hers covered through insurance. You can purchase the breast pump I used on amazon.

36. Breast Pump Bags

I used breast pump bags a lot with my third child because I solely pumped her food. I like that these include the ounces on the bag. Side note: If you have left over milk after your baby is done nursing you can donate the milk. I looked up a local donation bank in my area and was able to donate over 200 ounces of milk. It made me so proud to donate the breast milk. I didn’t want the milk to go to waste. I used these bags and highly recommend them!

37. Sanitizer Bags

I sanitized bottles and breast pump accessories daily. This is so everything stayed nice and clean for my babies. These bags are a whole lot quicker than running the accessories and bottles through the dishwasher. Here are the sanitizing bags I used.

38. Bottle Water for You

It is very important especially in the beginning of breast feeding to drink plenty of water. Drinking plenty of water helps establish your milk supply. I am also a firm believer in that water is connected to your daily energy. Bottom line drink up and your baby will thank you! I drink most brands of bottled water. You can buy bottle water at any local grocery store.

A year subscription of Martha Stewart Living for only $6.50.

39. Quick Snacks

In the beginning when baby comes home you are always hungry. It is important to take care of yourself so you can take care of your new addition. I recommend keeping some quick snack bars around for keeping your energy up. Here are some healthy bars I recommend!

40. Coffee and Creamer

Believe it or not I didn’t start drinking coffee until after my fourth child when I was in school. Now I can’t go without at least a morning cup and sometimes an afternoon one too. As long as baby is not affected by the coffee consumption, indulge. I have to say coffee is on my I can’t live without list for sure and I’m sure others will say the same. Here is the coffee I enjoy and the creamer too!

41. Swaddle Me Blanket

These are truly the best blankets. I used these for all four of my children because it helped them sleep better. Babies are not in control of their movements. These blankets helped baby stay snug so they sleep better. I suggest having extra. Here are the swaddle me blankets I recommend!

42. Cotton Blankets

As babies grow older they no longer like the swaddle. I used simple cotton blankets after they grew out of the swaddle stage. Here are some cotton blankets I recommend! You could also use these to swaddle if you prefer just a blanket. If you don’t know how to swaddle, ask your nurse in the hospital. They can help you!

43. Basinet

I loved my basinet. When baby was sleeping I could pull the basinet wherever I was to keep an eye on baby. I also used a twin bed in babies room at night. Either way you could use both until you’re comfortable leaving baby in the baby bed. Here is a mommy-to-be must have basinet I recommend!

44. Extra Basinet Sheets

I can not say this enough. You pretty much need to have extra of everything baby related. I had many basinet sheets because I liked my babies space to stay clean. Here are some mommy-to-be must-have basinet sheets I recommend!

45. Bouncer

I also used a bouncer everyday for each child. Get a small bouncer so you can easily move it. I used this one for all four kids! This was probably one of my most used shower gifts!

46. Rocking Chair

I used a rocking chair at night every time I breast fed. We already had a rocking chair from a previous family member. Get one with a lot of cushion.

47. High Chair

I was really blessed with a lot of great shower gifts. You definitely don’t need this at first but once you start feeding baby table food, this is a must-have. Here is the highchair I used. The great thing about this high chair is that the height is adjustable. You can also detach the chair and put it onto a chair at the table. We used this high chair for years.

48. Pack-n-Play

When I had my first two kids I lived away from family. I traveled to see family a lot. The pack-n-play came in handy when I needed a portable baby bed and changing station. I also set up my pack-n-play in the front of the house to have an extra changing station and sleep station in the house. Here is a similar pack-n-play like the one I was gifted!

49. Pack-n-Play Extra Sheets

I would recommend having extra sheets for the pack-n-play if you use it daily. As I’ve said before, babies spit up and pee out of their diaper all the time. Extra sheets come in handy when you have to change out. Here is a mommy-to-be must-have pack-n-play sheet I recommend!

50. Baby Swing

I used a baby swing daily. My babies loved a swing. If I had trouble putting my baby to sleep I used the swing. It always worked like a charm. They don’t sell the swing I used anymore but I recommend this swing!

51. Baby Gate

Baby gates come in handy. I used one in the door of the laundry room and one in between the living and playroom. You don’t need the gates right away but they do come in handy if you have pets. I have used gates for years. Here is the baby gate I recommend!

52. Toddler Car Seat

Once the kids are older they may need a larger car seat. I used a Britax car seat for three of my kids. Here is the car seat I recommend!

53. 4-n-1 Toddler Bed

After a couple of days I started transitioning my babies to their bed. I would sleep next to my baby in a twin bed in their room. When my baby woke up, I would get them out of their bed and feed them. I purchased a 4-n-1 bed that transitioned as baby grew. This is the 4-n-1 baby bed I purchased twice for two of my kids. I purchased the bed at amazon.

54. Matching Changing Table

In addition to the toddler bed I purchased a matching changing table to go with the bed. I used the changing table and dresser daily. I got the matching changing table at wayfair.

A year subscription to do it yourself for only $5.75.

55. Changing Table Extra Storage

I used an extra attachment to keep the wipes warmer, wipes, diaper cream and diapers in. I loved this attachment. Everything I needed was accessible and out of the way of baby.

56. Baby Jumper

You don’t need this at first but it does come in handy once baby can sit up and move around more. Once my babies were old enough I used a jumper daily. They don’t have the jumper I used but this one is just like mine!

57. Infant/Toddler Mattress

I started using my babies infant/toddler mattress a few days after coming home from the hospital. Try to buy a mattress that has an infant side and a toddler side. My first infant/toddler mattress was a Serta. Here is a mommy-to-be must-have I recommend!

58. Extra Infant/Toddler Sheets

I would go through sheets so fast. It is best to have many sets of sheets. I probably had like ten sets. Here is a infant/toddler sheet I recommend!

59. Mesh Bumper

I had a themed bumper but I recommend a mesh bumper. It is safer for baby. Here is a bumper I recommend!

60. Crib Rail Cover

61. Kids Hangers

Most of my kids clothes are hung up. I like hanging up everything because you can see what you have to wear. My kids are also old enough to pick something out for themselves in the closet. If I put things in the drawers neatly, it only becomes a mess. This is because my kids want a specific shirt and dig for it. So, that is why I find hanging up most of their clothes works better. Here are some children’s hangers I recommend!

62. Thermometer

I use a thermometer every time my kids are sick. It is nice to have one for the peace of mind. I like the simple ones. They last a long time and are cheap. Here is a thermometer I recommend!

There is also one for infants. Also, when buying medicine for your child get the grape flavor. Most children like the grape flavor better than the others.

66. Children’s Ibuprofen

In addition, I use children’s Ibuprofen when my kids are running fever or in pain. I prefer using children’s Ibuprofen because it last longer. This is good if you have a sick child and want to give medicine right before bed, so they sleep well. Notice I did include the infants ibuprofen and children’s ibuprofen. Here is the children’s Ibuprofen I and infants ibuprofen I recommend.

I use chest congestion when my kids are congested. The pediatrician says it helps loosen up the mucus. I also used this medicine a lot because my daughter would get sick and she had asthma. 73. Adult Ibuprofen

I use adult ibuprofen when I experience any pain. After my four c-sections I also used ibuprofen. Here is the ibuprofen I use!

A first-aid kit comes in handy for emergencies. I have mainly used it when getting splinters out of little feet. A nurse taught me how to use a splinter tool. I have lost count how many times I have removed splinters. Here is a first-aid kit and splinter tool I recommend.

77. Cortisone Cream

I use cortisone cream for bug bites that itch. Here is the cortisone cream I recommend!

I made my kids food for the first few months. A ninja will allow you to puree your babies food to a good consistency. I was able to make baby food for weeks with my ninja. Here is the ninja food processor I recommend.

85. Ice Trays

I used ice trays to freeze my babies food that I made. Once you make a batch of food. Pour the puree into the ice tray. Freeze the food into cubes. A couple of hours later pop the cubes into a bag labeled with what kind of food it is. Here are the ice trays I recommend.

86. Zip Lock Bags

The zip lock bags have many uses. I used them mainly to store my babies food cubes in. Here are the zip lock bags I recommend.

There is so much formula out there. If your pediatrician recommends a specific one use that one. Sometimes baby will tell you what he or she likes and doesn’t like. You may have to go through a few before you find one baby likes. I used formula with my fourth daughter when she was eight months old. She liked a certain one. Here is the formula she liked.

90. Pacifier

I don’t recommend using a pacifier when you first start breast feeding. If you want to use one, introduce it when your baby is established on the breast. It can confuse baby between the two types of nipples. Here are some I recommend.
